What Does the PTA Do for Davis?

A Lot!!

Join the PTA and Make a Difference in Your Child’s Education!  Here are some of the PTA’s many activities..

  • Dedicated more than $10,000 as stipends for the Davis school staff and new teachers to spend on classroom supplies.
  • Directed more than $7,000 of the No Hassle Fundraiser to pay for the operation of the Davis Science Lab. Davis is one of the few schools in AISD to have a dedicated science lab and science lab instructor.
  • Directs money from the No Hassle Fundraiser and DolphinFest profits towards the salary for a Computer Lab Specialist.
  • Partners with local restaurants to support Davis in the Dine with Davis program.
  • Runs the Dolphin Digest weekly communication email.
  • Helps students gain a love of math by working as volunteer teachers for Math Pentathlon.
  • Skate Nights!
  • Gets male role models involved with Watch D.O.G.S.
  • Provides weekend meals for our students in need through Blessings in a Backpack.
  • Manages our grounds with a forward thinking plan through a Beautification Committee.
  • Hosts luncheons and special treats for staff on in-service and training days.
  • Staffs the Turkey Trot fun run with parent volunteers!
  • Hosts a Welcome to Davis club for incoming kindergarteners.
  • Began a scholarship program for Davis alumni who are graduating from high school.
  • Works with teachers and administrators to develop campus-wide education priorities and initiatives.
  • Organizes ‘Welcome Back to School’ breakfast for teachers.
  • Holds regular PTA meetings for the Davis community.
  • Raised more than $20,000 at DolphinFest to help pay for PTA activities and staff positions on our campus.
  • Works with students to recycle paper and cans across the campus.
  • Funded the Davis Robotics program with over $20,000 for robotics supplies.
  • Supports the work of the Davis Safety Patrol.
  • Regularly updates the outdoor message boards.
  • Coordinates school supply sales for each grade level.
  • Provides spare clothes for the Nurse’s Office.
  • Hosts our annual Ice Cream Social event to welcome our families for another great year at Davis.
  • Creates and sells an awesome school t-shirt, hoodies, and stickers.
  • Supports the Davis Computer Lab with $36,000 in funds and with PTA volunteers.
  • Coordinates and staffs a Book Fair that raises thousands of dollars for Davis.
  • Recycles computer printer cartridges.
  • Collects Box Tops for additional funds for our children.
  • Works with local community businesses through our Partners in Education program to build relationships between area companies and our school.
  • Helps distribute textbooks to our students in each grade level.
  • Puts together over 70 pages for the school yearbook.
  • Helps with field trips in all of the grade levels.
  • Organizes and staffs an amazing Spring Fling for the kids, and a Big To-Do for parents that together raised over $21,000 last school year.
  • Stuffs folders, makes copies, sharpens pencils, cover books, you name it!
  • Donated funds to the Library for books and equipment.
  • Volunteers in the Library by shelving books, and preparing lesson materials.
  • Reads books to the kids in the classrooms.
  • Works closely with other volunteers at schools within the Anderson Vertical Team.
  • Advocates for family and student concerns on our campus.
  • Works with students to promote safety and drug awareness.
  • Fills in for the front office staff.
  • Coordinate volunteers for more than 100 different interest areas.
  • Does anonymous acts of kindness for needy students.
  • Staffs each of our classrooms with room parents.
  • Helps with school picture days.
  • Secured and refined a solar panel grant from Austin Energy.
  • Helps host our Back to School nights.
  • Coordinates our Parent Volunteer Round-Up.
  • Works with the administration to create new classrooms after the start of the school year.
  • Works with district officials to select school calendars.
  • Works hundreds of hours as classroom volunteers and works with teachers to meet grade-level needs.
  • Hosts a ‘Boo-Hoo, Ya-Hoo’ for incoming Kindergarten parents.
  • Organizes and staffs the annual Science Fair for all grade levels.
  • Funds and organizes the 5th grade Davis Players program.
  • Coordinates annual MARE/ Ocean Week program where students dive deep into learning about marine life.
  • Helps in the cafeteria during the first few weeks of school.
  • Makes a difference in the lives of the children at Davis Elementary.
