PTA Hosts Community-Building Events and Fundraisers
- Hosts our annual Ice Cream Social (Meet the Teacher) event to welcome Davis families
- Raised more than $20,000 at DolphinFest to help pay for PTA activities and staff positions on our campus
- Organizes and staffs an amazing Spring Fling for the kids, and The Big To-Do for parents that together raised over $21,000
- Partners with local restaurants to raise funds for Davis through the Dine with Davis program
- Skate Nights!
- Helps host our Back to School nights
- Staffs the Turkey Trot fun run with parent volunteers
- Hosts a Welcome to Davis club for incoming kindergartners and hosts a ‘Boo-Hoo, Ya-Hoo’ for incoming Kindergarten parents on the first day of school
- Coordinates and staffs a Book Fair that raises thousands of dollars for Davis and provides new books for classrooms and the library
- Creates and sells spirit gear
- Works with local community businesses to build relationships between area companies and our school
- Collects Box Tops and coordinates with retailers to make your shopping dollars count towards our children’s education
PTA Facilitates School/Parent Communications
- Holds regular PTA meetings for the Davis community
- Works with teachers and administrators to develop campus-wide education priorities and initiatives
- Advocates for family and student concerns on our campus
- Runs the Dolphin Digest weekly communication email
- Regularly updates the outdoor message boards
- Stuffs blue folders, makes copies, sharpens pencils, cover books, you name it!
- Works closely with other volunteers at schools within the Anderson Vertical Team
- Works with district officials to select school calendars
PTA Coordinates Volunteers for the School
- Works hundreds of hours as classroom volunteers and works with teachers to meet grade-level needs
- Coordinates parent volunteers for more than 100 different interest areas
- Gets male role models involved with WatchD.O.G.S.
- Helps in the cafeteria during the first few weeks of school
- Staffs each of our classrooms with room parents
- Helps with school picture days
- Fills in for the front office staff
- Volunteers in the library by shelving books, and preparing lesson materials
- Reads books to the kids in the classrooms
- Supports the work of the Davis Safety Patrol
- Helps distribute textbooks to our students in each grade level
- Coordinates school supply sales for each grade level
PTA Recognizes Teachers and Students
- Organizes ‘Welcome Back to School’ breakfast for teachers
- Hosts luncheons and special treats for staff on in-service and training days
- Runs a scholarship program for Davis alumni who are graduating from high school
PTA Funds Classroom Instruction and Support
- Dedicates more than $17,000 as stipends for the Davis school staff and new teachers to spend on classroom supplies
- Supports the Davis Computer Lab with $36,000 in funds toward salary of a Computer Lab Specialist and supplies
- Directs more than $7,000 to pay for the operation of the Davis Science Lab. Davis is one of the few schools in AISD to have a dedicated science lab and science lab instructor
- Funded the Davis Robotics program with over $20,000 for robotics supplies
- Donates funds to the library for books and equipment
PTA Organizes Student Enrichment
- Helps students gain a love of math by coaching Math Pentathlon teams
- Provides weekend meals for our students in need through Blessings in a Backpack
- Provides spare clothes for the Nurse’s Office
- Organizes and staffs the annual Science Fair for all grade levels
- Funds and organizes the 5th grade Davis Players program
- Helps with field trips in all of the grade levels
- Coordinates the annual Reflections program at Davis and supports students to compete in district and regional competitions
- Coordinates annual MARE/ Ocean Week program with teachers where students dive deep into learning about marine life
- Does anonymous acts of kindness for needy students
- Puts together over 70 pages for the school yearbook
- Manages our grounds with a forward-thinking plan through a Beautification Committee
- Works with students to promote safety and drug awareness
- Works with students to recycle paper and cans across the campus
- Recycles computer printer cartridges
- Secured and refined a solar panel grant from Austin Energy
