When thinking of teaming, people most often think of horizontal teams within a school. However, of equal value is the vertical team, which reaches beyond the school walls to promote teamwork among elementary, middle, and high school educators. At Davis Elementary, we are fortunate to have in-school teams (by grade level and special area) and to belong to the Anderson HS Vertical Team.
Our Vertical Team exists for many reasons, all of which benefit our students. The principals, PTA presidents, and ACPTA representatives from each school meet quarterly to discuss issues, share ideas, brainstorm solutions, and coordinate curriculum. Meetings are run by a representative of the Austin Council of PTAs. Another benefit, all the elementary school participate in the One World Flex language program.
The Vertical Team members also help students navigate the transitions between elementary, middle, and high school from an emotional and academic standpoint.
You already know how that Davis is a great school. Take a look at some of the web sites from our Vertical Team schools to see the wonderful work happening in our upline (Murchison and Anderson) and in our fellow elementary schools. Plus take a look at the International Baccalaureate® (IB) program which thrives at Murchison and Anderson.
